The Hoodlum

Dir. Sidney Franklin (1919). In this comedic class fable, Mary falls for a young man who had been jailed because of her wealthy grandfather's dishonest practices. It's well acted, but the outstanding feature is the splendidly convincing sets of New York slum scenes created in Hollywood by talented designer Max Parker. On the same program two Pickford shorts directed by D.W.Griffith. Live musical accompaniment by Ben Model.
