Dir. Jacques Tati (1953). A delight from beginning to end, this was Tati’s first international hit. In some respects the French Jerry Lewis, Tati is a master of the extended sight gag—extending the heritage of silent comedy with his meticulously constructed gags and deftly orchestrated pratfalls.
