Madeline Peyroux may have become so exasperated with having her voice compared to Billie Holiday's (rightly in timbre, wrongly in phrasing and note choice) that she decided to simply go with it. For "Remembering Lady Day—50 Years," the peripatetic singer will be accompanied by a solid and unflappable combo featuring guitarist Russell Malone, saxophonist Marcus Strickland, and trumpeter Avishai Cohen.
