SHE’S CRAFTY

Artist MK Guth wants your old clothing

You know that old T-shirt that belonged to your ex? It’s time to let it go. But don’t set fire to it. Instead, give it to artist MK Guth. Guth, a “multidisciplinary artist working in video, sculpture, and performative social exchange projects,” wants all of your old clothing for her latest show This Fable Is Intended for You: A Work-Energy Principle, co-presented by arts>World Financial Center. Inside a retail space under One New York Plaza, Guth (featured in the 2008 Whitney Biennial) attempts to build a connection with the people of the city through the act of tying and bundling together their used clothes. Interact with and observe the artist and her volunteers as they tie, twist, and braid all that clothing donated by you. The materials will be incorporated into a series of free performances at the Winter Garden from January 9 to 12.
Tuesdays-Fridays, noon. Starts: Dec. 9. Continues through Dec. 18, 2009
