Romping is their forte, and regardless of the fact that they're often essaying ancient artifacts ("It's Tight, Jim" and "Paducah," say), the trumpeter's brood keeps everything in the present tense. Meaning there's very little "way back when" in the air as the band rocks those Kansas City and Harlem nuggets. Same goes for the classique pop they poach from Paisley Park to Abbey Road. Sit close to 'em at this underground cubbyhole, and you'll be pleasured all night. Bernstein wouldn't have it any other way.
