You Can't Take It With You

Dir. Frank Capra (1938). Probably the worst movie ever to have won a Best Picture Oscar, Capra's trite and preachy turkey transforms the droll Vanderhof family of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's excellent play into a gaggle of dolts. They're supposed to symbolize "the little people" of the planet. It's Capra-corn at its most indigestibly schmaltzy.
