More About

It’s New Year’s Eve’s Eve and you’re Jewish single, and still don’t have a date for the big party tomorrow. Have no fear—tonight, comedian Helen Hong hosts Mensch Match, a comedy show/singles mixer based on the Korean practice of “booking,” which involves waiters coercing strangers to sit together for a drink. The New York version spices it up with comedians (both Jewish and Goy) acting as the matchmakers after performing their routines. If this doesn’t sound like a surefire way to meet Mr. or Ms. Right (or just a last-minute date), Union Hall is also holding an I Heart Nerds speed-dating night on December 29—which we guess is for those who want to spend New Year’s Eve holding hands while reading a book. ‘Mensch Match’ Wednesday, December 30, at 8, Comix, 353 West 14th Street, 212-254-2500, comixny.com, $15–$20; ‘I Heart Nerds’ Tuesday, December 29, at 7:30, Union Hall, 702 Union Street, Brooklyn, 718-638-4400, unionhallny.com, free
Tue., Dec. 29, 7:30 p.m.; Wed., Dec. 30, 8 p.m., 2009
