This year's debate over which jazz ensembles could effectively woo a twentysomething crowd often had pundits pointing to this crew. The frenzied unk-fay created by the saxophonist's foursome relies on the kind of swing that couches itself in kinetics—Potter's tension and release tactics are pretty much syncopation city.
