The lovely ladies of Brooklyns Au Revoir Simone havent done much to alter their simple synth-pop sound over the course of the three full-lengths theyve released since 2005. But that dogged devotion to a template has enabled them to find new depth in a style often taken up as a lark by their hipster-haven peers; last years Still Night, Still Light is lovely and haunting in equal measure. According to the bands Twitter, the Simones have worked up a secret cover song and stage decorations for tonights show. (Dont expect a prom-night Shiny Happy People.) Local dream-folk chick Alexa Wilding recently told Page Six magazine that she gets nostalgic for Manhattan before it was fancy, yet a certain kind of Victorian-era fanciness is precisely what sets her singing and strumming apart from that of the MySpace masses.
