The Bull boys follow leader Matt White down several dark alleys, messing with everyone—from Mingus to Shepp to the Art Ensemble—they encounter. The nonet's rambunctious Dying Will Be Easy is a blast. Their Glowing pals are cineastes who make wily and dramatic jazz that cues off of film. They spent Halloween saluting John Carpenter, and have gone through a Two Lane Blacktop phase. From screech to smooch, they make lots of sense.
