More a ringmaster than a frontman, Of Montreal's Kevin Barnes creates kaleidoscopic visions live—previously including an oversized lobster claw and a really tall ladder—to complement his band's ever-evolving schizophrenic, practically Technicolor indie rock. Now he's saying his vision for the group on their next album is going to resemble Parliament, which could only mean his stage show is about to get a lot more flashlights. Perhaps the chance to contrast such a spectacle is why Of Montreal multi-instrumentalist James Husband is opening the show with a stripped-down set of his more garage rocky solo material.
