BAMBOO BANGAS

An almost-Indian wedding party in the poisson

"Marching band" seems too tiny a term; Red Baraat have the locomotion of an army. The percussion and brass collective centers around the shol, an Indian drum that dates back to the 15th century and is especially popular with the Sikhs of the Punjab region; this Brooklyn crew folds it into ecstatic bhangra and funk. Not quite a wedding processional band, per the initial concept, they're nonstop revelry for any light soul who can match their boundless energy. With Pistolera and Gabriel Teodros.
