'Brooklyn Jazz Underground Festival'

It's the fourth go-round for this annual gathering of up 'n' comers, and the talent circle keeps on widening. I've become a fan of Alan Ferber in the last few weeks; the trombonist got way busy at the Jazz WinterFest, and it's become clear that his nonet is a group of smarties to keep your eyes on. Ditto for Rob Garcia, whose seductive and provocative Perennial warrants more visibility than it's getting. And it's sax city through the weekend, too; Adam Kolker, whose name you should jot down, can be both plush and pushy. Along with Noah Preminger, Donny McCaslin, and Jon Gordon (working for Garcia, Sunny Jain, and Dave Smith, respectively), there's a wealth of reed action waiting to be absorbed.
Fri., March 5, 9 & 10:30 p.m.; Sat., March 6, 8:30 p.m.; Sun., March 7, 8:30 p.m., 2010
