Kreator

Thrash is back—just ask all the kids donning painter caps and obscure '80s underground-metal tees kicking it at the Charleston on Bedford Ave. 1986 was the genre's golden year: Slayer's Reign In Blood, Metallica's Master of Puppets, and the most frenetic and raw of the bunch, Kreator's Pleasure To Kill, a landmark album that hugely influenced the creation of death-metal. Germany's Kreator are unsung thrash godfathers (also Exodus and fellow countrymen Destruction) deserving some serious accolades. Forget their '90s output; the albums since 2001 actually (mostly) smoke.
