The cover art of Israeli metal group Orphaned Land's latest arranges Hebrew and Arabic lettering into what the band considers a symbol of peace, a lofty mission statement for an equally lofty band. If anyone can live up to balancing such a culture clash, though, it's this quartet. Musically, Orphaned Land play spiraling Middle Eastern-tinted progressive metal—or "Jewish Muslim metal," as they call it—that sounds like Led Zep's "Kashmir" played on a warped, skipping record. It would make Tool's collective heads spin. Were that not enough, their lyrics are sung in English, Hebrew, Arabic, and Yemenite. With Suidarka and Gwynbleidd.
