Grass: A Nation’s Battle for Life

Dir. Ernest Schoedsack & Merian Cooper (1925). A pure salient moment in the history of documentary cinema, this epic account of the massive annual migration undertaken by Iran's Bakhtiari tribe in search of fresh pastures for their cattle was the first major collaboration of the splendid future co-directors of King Kong. Much of the credit for this astounding film must go to Schoedsack, whose camera captured some of the most remarkable outdoor footage of the 1920s.
