OH, CANADA!

See what's new in Canadian cinema

As all of those "You Gotta Be Here" commercials from the British Columbia tourism board showed us during the Olympic Winter Games, Canada has great mountains, great mountains, and Michael J. Fox. OK, OK, they have some excellent filmmakers as well, and this week, you can see what's new with our neighbors to the north at Canadian Front, MOMA's annual survey of Canadian cinema. Today's screenings include Suck (at 7:15 p.m.), Rob Stefaniuk's film about a Canadian vampire rock band (featuring cameos by the likes of Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, and Alice Cooper), and Denis Villeneuve's Polytechnique (at 4 p.m.), about the true story of a 25-year-old gunman who killed 14 female students at the École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989.
