With health care mired, the budget troubled, and the recession taking its sweet time ceasing, perhaps it's time for President Obama to . . . sing? Well, it worked for Andrew Jackson, at least according to the delicious revisionist history offered by Les Freres Corbusier in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Elected to a proper term after a run in the Public's LAB series, this pageant-cum-concert features our esteemed seventh president (the dishy Benjamin Walker) as an emo rocker. Via Michael Friedman's insouciant songs, Jackson launches a successful campaign by singing, "Why wouldn't you ever go out with me in high school?" and other overly sensitive lyrics. Clever, silly, and occasionally trenchant, the musical explores bigamy, populism, cults of personality, and—oh, yeah—genocide.
