The General

Dir. Buster Keaton, Clyde Bruckman (1927). In one of the great silent comedies, set during the Civil War, a railway engine takes the title role. Buster is a brave little Southern engineer who sets out to rescue his two loves when his girl is hijacked by Northern troops on his cherished train. Aside from the actor's superb bodily grace, what raises the film to classic status is its authentic historical background and pictorial beauty.
Wednesdays-Fridays, 1:30 p.m. Starts: March 17. Continues through March 19, 2010
