Califone+Sonoi

Califone's latest album, All My Friends Are Funeral Singers, isn't the soundtrack to songwriter Tim Rutilli's indie film debut of the same title, but it may as well be. It's a haunted house of an album. Electronic sounds simultaneously shatter and enhance the quartet's rickety acoustic laments, reflecting the movie's restless spirits. A tribute to director Luis Buñuel tips a hat to his cinematic antecedents. (The band will accompany the film at the IFC Center tomorrow night.) Chicago trio Sonoi puts a Krautrock spin on spare songs and a jangly guitar.
