Ouidah, Benin–born vocalist Angélique Kidjo is no stranger to grandeur; Fifa, her 1996 soul-pop effort, featured more than 100 singers, percussionists, and woodwind players (plus one Carlos Santana). And in her 22 years of Afro-pop jazz, she’s learned to deliver this ambition in her live show; a Kidjo event includes ebullient funk jams, excitable banter, and rhythmic fusion to match her rich, nuanced voice. Town Hall is the only place in town to contain her imperial charisma.
