JET-SET

Pack your bags for midtown

What's better than a staycation? How about a j-CATION? That's right, the Japan Society has coined a new term to describe its first-ever food festival, and we can already taste the Pocky. This 12-hour celebration serves up delicious Japanese treats as well as an excellent program of workshops, contests, and performances. You may want to try the Japanese calligraphy class or check out an afternoon screening of Flavor of Happiness, Mitsuhiro Mihara's tale of an aging Chinese chef and his young female apprentice. Or cheer on downtown stars Our Hit Parade and Queen of Squeeze Amazon Annie as they play the Japanese game show "Clash of the Foodies," hosted by Kenji America. Stick around for the after-party with performances by Asobi Seksu, Me & Mars, and, finally, late-night beats by DJ Aki.
