THE DOCTOR IS IN

You're due for a check-up with the Mint Theater

Knock, knock? Who's there? Jules Romains. Jules Romains who? Jules Romains the prolific French author whose famous comedy, Dr. Knock, or The Triumph of Medicine, is now being revived by the Mint Theater. In this farce of mismanaged care, the titular physician arrives in a provincial French town and convinces an otherwise healthful populace of their infirmity. Stuffed full of all the latest scientific theories and state-of-the-art therapies, Dr. Knock helps to spread an outbreak of severe hypochondria. Unseen in New York for more than 80 years, this play should give audiences a good dose of convulsive laughter—and then have them running home to search their belly-shaking symptoms on WebMD. Director Gus Kaikkonen administers the comic treatment.
Wed., April 14, 2 p.m.; Tuesdays-Thursdays, 7 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: April 14. Continues through June 6, 2010
