It took Zoos of Berlin a minute to drop Taxis. The quartet played around their Detroit hometown for a good few years before self-issuing their debut full-length in late 2009, but now it seems that was all just gestation. Zoos are sophisticates who probably like ascots. They play with pop and jazz elements as components for a steadily cool groove and could very well have hit on the next sound of the century: pointillistic pop that gazes at the world through a prism of its own making. Taxis just sounds cool, period. With and Electric Tickle Machine and the spasms, beards, and sugar of fellow Detroiters Child Bite.
