Kelis has come a long way from Neptunes' scream queen to the "Milkshake" and "Bossy" art-diva, but she's always maintained that perfect balance of sexiness, quirkiness, and rock-star badassery—paving the way for Janelle, Santigold, and even her super-hyped show opener Maluca. Kelis's new single, the David Guetta-produced "Acapella," is a kinda cloying attempt to cash in on the current electro-hop craze, but damn if her inherent weirdness and awesomeness don't turn it into something completely perfect.
