Quasi

Quasi's music is controlled chaos, heavy-footed indie rock with Beatles hooks and Stones distortion—a sound they described perfectly with their 1997 album title R&B Transmogrification. The heart of this has always been the musical union of vocalist-guitarist Sam Coomes, who's responsible for the group's trippy lyrics and grandiose arrangements, and drummer Janet Weiss (lately of Sleater-Kinney anf Pavement frontman's Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks), known for her bear-trap snare hits and heavy cymbalism. They're joined on their latest, American Gong, by new bassist Joanna Bolme (also of the Jicks). Maybe she is is why the album is their most focused yet. With Let's Wrestle.
