Though you may envy the stamina of all the joggers who materialized with the warm weather, don't underestimate the advantages of walking as a fine way to get back in shape—and the NY Walkers Clubhas just the class and the place, and it's free! The Walkers Club is a nonprofit group dedicated to encouraging, improving, and promoting physical fitness and good community relations through walking. Their mission is to educate the public about the benefits of walking for health, and, of course, get the public involved in walking for fitness. Saturday mornings, Coach Lon Wilson will take you through a warm-up, cool-down, stretch, and walk. All fitness levels are welcome, and the class is perfect for beginners, focusing on walking at a moderate to brisk pace over mostly flat surfaces.
