NATURE VS. FUN

Tea ceremonies, anime, DJs, and—oh, yeah—some trees

The cherry-blossom trees may be lovely this time of year, but at Sakura Matsuri 2010, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's annual two-day cherry-blossom celebration, the garden is almost beside the point. Between tea ceremonies, origami instruction, and taiko drumming, who has time for nature? And once again, the J-Lounge, presented by the NY Anime Festival, returns to give us some modern-day Tokyo with DJs spinning J-pop, manga and anime artists in person, and a Cosplay Fashion Show for those of us who draw style inspiration from those big-eyed cartoon girls and boys.
Sat., May 1, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sun., May 2, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., 2010
