PRETTY WOMAN

Oh, the things teens do for money

Prince Jefri Bolkiah, member of the Brunei Royal Family in Southeast Asia, according to the Associated Press, has 17 children with four wives—author Jillian Lauren could have been wife number five, almost. Her memoir, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, recounts how, at 18, she dropped out of NYU theater school and followed a lead on an audition overseas that promised $20,000 to pretty American girls if they stayed for two weeks to spice up parties. Turns out that lead took her to Borneo, where she would spend the next 18 months in the harem Bolkiah. What she learned about herself led her on a search for her birth mother and, eventually, to adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia with her husband, Weezer bassist Scott Shriner. So, would Lauren—now a happy 36-year-old mom in Southern California—trade it all to erase her stint as a concubine? Find out tonight.
