GIDDY UP!

The Golden Palominos reunite for Electric Literature

Is it possible that the short story may be entering a new Golden Age? Case in point: When Electric Literature, which launched last summer as a print lit mag unafraid of new media, serialized a Rick Moody story on Twitter, it gained about 10,000 followers and had Moody (author of The Ice Storm) raving that his stories hadn’t reached such a large audience in, well, maybe never. Continuing to make miracles happen, the magazine co-founded by Brooklyn College MFA graduates Andy Hunter and Scott Lindenbaum, will tonight resurrect the 1985–87 lineup of the Golden Palominos, with drummer Anton Fier and dynamic front woman Syd Straw, in honor of the publication’s fourth issue. Keepin’ it geeky are two bookish opening acts: the Walking Hellos, with Bee Season author Myla Goldberg on banjo, and the Wingdale Community Singers, with Moody on guitar and vocals.
