The Hold Steady will get the rare luxury of a custom audience tonight, as they perform their lowbrow bar rock with highbrow rants for "Soundcheck," a program on National Public Radio affiliate WNYC. The broadcast is only an hour long and will focus on the group's latest, the somewhat musically restrained Heaven is Whenever, but the band has promised to play an extra set for the in-studio audience.
