They've been running the Belmont Stakessince 1867, and the race remains one of the three premier events in thoroughbred racing, the "third jewel" in the Triple Crown. There's no shot at a Triple Crown Winner this year, but that doesn't diminish the excitement of the million-dollar race. There will be a new champion at the Belmont, though, as neither the Kentucky Derby nor Preakness winners are expected to be there. Look for Ice Box, the runner-up in the Derby, and Dublin, who might end up being the only horse to run all three races. You don't have to know racing—just go for the experience.
