After serving for years as Gillian Welch's right-hand man, Dave Rawlings stepped into the spotlight last November with A Friend of a Friend, a lovely little roots disc on which he's backed by Welch (who'll join him tonight), Benmont Tench, Nate Walcott of Bright Eyes, and folks from Nashville's Old Crow Medicine Show. He's a modest frontman but a deserving one.
