You don't need to land a plane in the Hudson to get this Key to the City. Creative Time, the group that commissions artists to produce artwork for the masses globally (and not in a gallery setting, but on our streets), presents the work of Paul Ramírez Jonas, who has created a functional key—that can open spaces across all five boroughs of New York City. This Key to the City is intended for everyday folks, who will award each other keys for whatever reason and, once in hand, go on a citywide exploration of back doors, front gates, community gardens, graveyards, and museums—which suggests that the city is a series of spaces to be unlocked with friends. So which door would you open first?
