BEST OF THE FEST

Starring Norah and Mrs. Jones

BAM's alternative film fest, BAMcinemaFEST, is back for a second go-around, and if you missed the first week of festivities, don't worry: The remaining lineup is stellar, with most directors sticking around post-screening for Q&As. Tonight, the French filmmaker Olivier Assayas introduces Maurice Pialat's heart-wrenching 1972 autobiographical pic We Won't Grow Old Together, and tomorrow, Jeanette Maier, the former head of a New Orleans brothel profiled in The Canal Street Madam, discusses the doc with director Cameron Yates. On Saturday, June 19, director Goran Hugo Olsson questions Philly soul legend Billy Paul after the U.S. premiere of his film Am I Black Enough For You, about the man who scored a number-one hit with "Me and Mrs. Jones." Speaking of Mrs. Jones, tonight you can also catch Norah Jones (on screen, not in person) in Wah Do Demas a heartless girlfriend who dumps her Brooklyn hipster beau just before their Caribbean cruise.
