John Biz

Minus Crosby, Stills, Nash, Crazy Horse, concept albums about electric cars, boomer nostalgia, and an arena-filling following, Brooklyn songwriter John Biz is a lot like Neil Young. At least in that he's been doggedly pursuing some unseen horizon-line through a prolific stream of music that's moved between Steve Alibini-recorded grunge-jam scorchers, golden harmonied (and Woody Guthrie-obsessed) folk, and--lately--tasty Hawaiian vibes. Held together with an earnestness that is as classic as it is unflashy, John Biz is an entirely untweetable, un-Hype Machine-ready musician. But, hey, he writes cool songs. With the London Souls, Wormburner, and Lorraine Leckie.
