Rachid Taha

Thanks to a new producer (Gaëtan Roussel, replacing Steve Hillage), this middle-aged French-Algerian rapscallion's new Bonjour is easily Taha's most pleasantly accessible album—and he's taking plenty of critical flack for it. But any collection that integrates Amadou and Mariam-esque melodies with country-and-Arabic mashups, nasty shaabi beats, and allusions to the likes of Franz Fanon and Naguib Mahfouz is worth at least a listen-hear. With GlobeSonic DJ Fabian Alsutany.
