PIANO PRIDE

Tickle the ivories all over the city

Never had time to learn the piano? Now you can perhaps squeeze in a few notes on your morning commute today when Play Me, I'm Yours rolls into our fair city. Already a hit in England, Brazil, and Australia, Luke Jerram's interactive art experience features about 60 upright pianos scattered all over the city's sidewalks that are free to be played. So will you attempt "Moonlight Sonata," "Great Balls of Fire," or "Chopsticks"? Of course, if you're no Elton John, you're free to fiddle around with the keys like we intend to do. Jerram, who uses pianos that people "chucked out," has secured them to the ground with metal cables and has plastic covers in case of rain—so don't even think of rolling them home.
