'Carefusion Jazz Festival Presents Tortoise'

Chicago's blue-ribbon instrumental rockers were totally engrossing on last year's Beacons Of Ancestorship; its simple arpeggios slowly came to a rolling boil amidst rhythmically precise blasts of otherwise nonsensical noise and the same smoky ambiance that has ensured drummer John McEntire's career as a producer.
