Jonathan Meiburg & Amy Stack

Jonathan Meiburg, the soft-spoken sensitivo behind indie-folk group Shearwater, will be performing with Wye Oak songstress Amy Stack to open the Whitney's exhibition of the works of Charles Burchfield. The artist was known for nature-based art, and the pair's penchant for pastoral playing will complement it perfectly. They will be joined by author Jonathan Rosen, who will be reading excerpts from Burchfield's journals—the evening's connecting thread, according to the Whitney, being a shared enthusiasm for nature between tonight's performers, the author, and, of course, Burchfield himself. Admission is pay-what-you-wish.
Fri., June 25, 7 p.m., 2010
