PROCEED WITH CAUTION

YellowFever are known to be contagious

With their grad-student deadpan and their bare-bones jingle-jangle, Austin’s YellowFever recall any number of hipster-approved early-’80s post-punk acts. But it’s not Young Marble Giants or the Raincoats they cover on their new self-released Bermuda Triangle EP—it’s Culture Club’s “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” in which Jennifer Moore and Adam Jones give a rigorously stripped-down reading that emphasizes Boy George’s sad-clown melancholy. That said, Triangle follows hot on the heels of a self-titled singles compilation issued by Vivian Girls’ Wild World Records, so expect plenty of hipsters in the audience. Openers Woven Bones, also from Austin, do the fashionably fuzzy psych-garage thing familiar to fans of the Black Lips.
