The Acorn
These folksy Canucks aren't called the Acorn for nothing. Breaking out last year with a tingly cover of Gowan's "Strange Animal," their release this year, No Ghost transcends the band's usual bucolic stargazing for a gypsy-funk session in a caravan. After a stint of touring with Elbow, their live show (quite big in England) showcases the band's musical showmanship and spontaneity, flushed with a knack for propulsive guitar jams and love-lorne lyrics.
