Like Huun Huur Tu, this Congolese band is way exotic, even by "world music" standards. Konono can become less threatening once you dig their MO of electrified thumb pianos and, like HHT, you might have difficulty telling their records apart. Yet if you become enamored of their wild, psychedelic grooves, it all is something wonderful to gorge on. It's good music to work up a sweat to on these hot summer days.
