Rooney

When Rooney entered our cultural consciousness in 2004, they were famous for their cameo on The O.C. (back when Marissa Cooper was still standing) and for frontman Robert Schwartzman’s familial connections (Jason is his brother). Since they were dropped by Geffen, they've more or less gone their own way. A tour with the Jonas Brothers might've opened more doors than when they last played with Weezer, yet the band's flair for hooky, morose '70s piano-pop is like Kings of Leon with a suntan. Here's hoping that tonight's showcase is the start of something bigger. With Young Veins and Black Gold.
