We Are Scientists change very little on Barbara, their newest and fourth album. Well, they added Andy Burrows on drums, formerly of Razorlight. Musically for WAS, it's as things were. The menu includes bright pop and earnest emo melodies twined with guitar and electronics, and the result is a mostly satisfactory rush of mild cheekiness and vague New Wave after-images. Sometimes staying the same is more rewarding than trying to be some kind of undefined 'better.' With Lightspeed Champion and Bad Girlfriend.
