After the recent death of acclaimed fashion designer Alexander McQueen, it was Isabella Blow's name that often came up as the one responsible for bringing his talent to the masses. Those who don't keep up with the ins and outs of the fashion world (and even those who do) can now learn more about this British style icon in Blow By Blow, a new play by Jean Bergantini Grillo that's debuting at the Midtown International Theatre Festival. The drama looks back at the fashion maven's aristocrat upbringing and fashion-fueled life as well as her long battle with depression that ultimately led to her suicide at the age of 48 in 2007. The show promises to include several re-creations of Blow's legendary wardrobe and extravagant hats; incidentally, all the originals now belong to heiress Daphne Guinness, who recently purchased them for an undisclosed amount so they wouldn't be individually auctioned off.
