Corinne Bailey Rae

You might say that British singer-songwriter Rae plays Ellen Page to Amy Winehouse's neo-soul Lindsay Lohan, reliably turning in a stream of quiet aces rather than front-page trainwrecks. Her latest album, The Sea, is a spellbinding, grim attempt to come to terms with the loss of her husband, who died suddenly two years ago when she was only 28; its lead single is a heart-wrenching elegy called "I'd Do It All Again." Even her tragedies can deliver aces, it seems.
