Slow learners have had well over a decade already to fall in love with Jack White and/or Alison Mosshart; the lead singers/shredders for the White Stripes and the Kills, respectively, are genuine, furious blues-rock geniuses. But if you haven't fallen into their thrall, it will take only three seconds: the punishing, inexplicable bridge of "Die by the Drop" on their supergroup the Dead Weather's sophomore album, May's Sea of Cowards. Six Zeppelin-esque ascending notes skip over no discernible time signature, Mosshart's stilettos stomping them into submission over White's crushing metal percussion. Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs join them in the heaviest, sultriest, most invigorating rock album in ages. Swoooon. This is a benefit concert for the Celebrate Brooklyn! festival, with Harlem.
