DOWNTOWN CRUSH

The Amoralists take over P.S.122

The Amoralists are a company who demand much of their artists—so much for skulking in the back of the rehearsal room, clutching a venti latte. Instead, they insist on "a willingness to be uncomfortable," "a willingness to be rattled," "a willingness to bleed, sweat, and cry," and a dozen other stipulations, all of which make working for them sound like the worst blind date ever. Nevertheless, critics and audiences have developed a crush on their brash, messy comedies—two of which are now revived at P.S.122: Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side concerns some East Village communitarians, while Happy in the Poorhouse features shouting matches among Coney Island habitués.
Mondays, Thursdays-Saturdays, 7 p.m.; Sundays, 5 p.m.; Tue., Aug. 3, 1 p.m. Starts: July 29. Continues through Aug. 9, 2010
