Dr. John & the Lower 911

Even after all the belly-aching and arguing over the national health care plan, can we at least agree in our support for Dr. John? Even with his long-time West Coast base, he's still as New Orleans as they come, not just in his "Iko Iko" second line stomp but also his tunes that draw attention to the oil-soaked plight of NOLA residents. He draws his band from residents of the area hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina, at that. It's not quite the same as seeing him down-home at Tipitina's, but an intimate club date like this is appropriate enough.
